What Is
Low Libido?

Low libido, often referred to as low sex drive can be a symptom of another medical condition, but can also be a medical condition called hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). A lowered sex drive does not in all cases mean that you’re suffering with HSDD. Because many issues can affect one’s interest in sex, it’s important to take them all into account before deciding there’s an identifiable condition that is creating this symptom.

At Advanced Gynecology, we take your concern for discretion seriously and assure you that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with discussing these issues with your doctor or specialist. Low libido is quite common in women, and there are many reasons you could experience it at some point in your life.

Potential Care Options for Low Libido

Solving the underlying cause of your low libido may require behavioral, interventional or surgical treatment in some cases such as cancers or other serious conditions. Your doctor will give specific indications based on your unique health concerns.

If you’ve been diagnosed with HSDD specifically, speak with your doctor about what treatment options are right for you. There are FDA approved medications for HSDD such as Addyi, but whether you should pursue this course of action is something to consult your doctor about as there are many considerations involved when making a decision about prescribing any medication.
